Part 4 The Ambedkar Cartoon Controversy has shown a clear divide between two intellectuals, the Upper-caste (savarna) intellectuals basically say that let the cartoon be in the text book, few I dont want to take their names though (both wrote in Kafila.org, which also can be told that majority of the upper-caste have subscribed to it) that they dont give a damn to the cartoon. The other voice comprises of Dalit Bahujan intellectuals who say the cartoon is unjustified, hence a removal is needed. During this debate few Savarna Intellectuals have started writing/attacking Dalit Bahujans in various ways, such as EPW wrote in its editorial Parliament is not competent to decide on the contents of textbooks. That job is of the NCERTand Parliament is breaching the limits to its power if it starts meddling in the minutiae of deciding which textbook will have what words or illustrations on which page! This repeated breaching of the limits imposed by our Constitution on the top institutions of our republic -- whether Parliament..." The Editorial team suddenly talks about constitution and respect, but did any of the institution such as EPW, CSDS, CSSS implement reservation policy and respect the constitution. Whenever they want they would take ortherwise they would rarely give any attention.
